January 2011Emergency freight credit amount increased to $1,000, annuallyOn January 19, Atlantic announced an increase from $500 to $1,000 in the amount of emergency freight charges it will credit to partnership accounts annually. First launched in 2002, the program allows customers who’ve either waited too long to order, purchased the wrong parts, or are simply faced with a spike requiring quick shipping, to get up to $1,000 in emergency freight, free, annually. Customers pay their freight bills initially and Atlantic credits them quarterly. To qualify as a partnership account, customers must purchase $20,000 or more in fasteners each year and be in good credit standing. Atlantic president Tony Peterson said, “We offer the program to about 70 customers annually and it’s been well received during the first nine years.” He cited an increase in shipping costs in the interim as why the company decided on the hike. “We want to treat our loyal customers fairly," he remarked.
