Upgrade simplifies online ordering process
Using Atlantic Fasteners’ online ordering system has just become a lot easier, according to Director of Information Services, Dean Johnson. “Now customers can quote and order at the same time and find what they need three ways,” says Johnson. “To find items - if they have their own part numbers and log in to their account - they can simply type the part numbers into the search box for a fast response (they also see their own pricing). Or, they can type a generic description, such as “Hex Cap Screw Grade-5 Zinc,” into the box. Third, if they’re uncertain about correct descriptions, they can skip the box and use the product category list, which walks them through the process.” Johnson says that developing the search function took an in-house fastener specialist nearly one year to complete and there’s continual tweaking, weekly. “Giving customers the ability to order and quote items simultaneously
is a genuine time-saver,” he continues. He says that
during the same online session, customers can add stock items to their
cart
while
requesting
a quote for special items. Separate e-mailing of
specials is no longer required. Instead, the computer divides ordered
stock
items from quotes during the check out process. Johnson notes that
it typically takes Atlantic 24 to 48 hours to return quotes.
