Patrick
J. O’Toole, founder and CEO of Atlantic Fasteners,
has been inducted into the Fastener Hall of Fame.
O’Toole was recently honored for his vision, tenacity and business flair
at the National Industrial Fastener Show in Las Vegas.
In 1981, he and his brother bought Atlantic, then a twice bankrupt company with
five employees and $250,000 in annual sales. Today, Atlantic employs 48 and
has annual sales of $12 million.
His early innovations included inventory computerization, bar coding, and introduction
of the industry’s first and only $100
Service Guarantees.
They ensure on time delivery, defect-free product, complete accuracy and 100%
satisfaction. If Atlantic makes a mistake, it issues a $100 credit to its customers.
Prior to starting Atlantic, O’Toole and his brother turned
around two Springfield Massachusetts area industrial distributorships, a plumbing
and lumber firm. And, for fourteen years, he was
president of a five-company division owned by Standex International, a New Hampshire
conglomerate.
