Most of Mr.Doppke’s experience has been in the automotive, transportation and general industries. But, he’s also knowledgeable in wooden construction, metallic construction (buildings, amusement rides, free standing steel structures, oil industry components), and appliance industry equipment.

Additionally, Mr. McGuire spent seven years as an independent fastener rep. He served as vice president of the National Fastener Distributors Association between 1973-74. And, he was inducted into the Fastener Hall of Fame in 1994.

 

Bill Pierce (continued)

Major accomplishments:

  • Has provided consulting/testing services to more than 100 of the Fortune 500 companies, to the US Army and Navy, and to many fastener distributors
  • Has trained over 1000 engineers in Mexico, England and Asia via lectures and on-site trouble-shooting seminars.
  • Has authored many technical fastening articles for McGuire and Cahners Publishing
  • Assists companies in writing fastener specifications and/or work instructions

Background:
Mr. Pierce worked 38 years as a Senior Product Development Engineer for Delco Electronics Systems, now a Division of Delphi Electronics & Safety, where he developed and staffed its fastener technology center. He retired in 1997. He has been an invited member of Sopheon-Teltech Technical Expert Knowledge group, now INTOTA, since 1997.

 

Dr. Louis Raymond (continued)

Major accomplishments:

  • Received the 1994 George Washington Engineer of the Year Award from the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering
  • Author, lecturer and member of various standards organizations
  • Wrote Chapter 39 in the Handbook of Bolts and Bolted Joints on hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion of fasteners
  • Co-authored Chapter 27 on “Hydrogen Damage” in ASTM MNL 20
  • Chairs ASTM F7.04 subcommittee on Hydrogen Embrittlement
  • Teaches on-site short courses for the automotive and aerospace industries
  • Lectures on the effects of fastener processing, including heat treating and plating, on the service performance of fasteners
  • Has authored a combined 1,000 technical articles and client fastener failure analysis reports

Background:
Dr. Raymond has been involved in the fastener industry for over 35 years. He has a Ph.D. in Metallurgy, plus a B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering.

 

Ralph Shoberg (continued)

Major accomplishments:

  • Has authored numerous technical articles and several book chapters on fastener technology
  • Contributed a chapter on Mechanical Testing and Evaluation of threaded fasteners in the ASM International Handbook, Volume 8
  • Developed the SR1 Bolted Joint Analysis software along with Fritz Ruoss of Hexagon Software. The program is an extended version of the German VDI-2230 analysis method
  • Provides, through his company, technical support and testing equipment to over 300 testing laboratories and fastener manufacturing facilities
  • Developed the M-Alpha audit method for determination of clamping force on fastener assemblies. Based upon torque-angle-signature analysis, it allows direct estimation of clamp force on threaded fastener assemblies without the use of strain gaged bolts or ultrasonic transducers.

Background:
Mr. Shoberg has a BSME from the University of Michigan. Before starting his own firm more than 30 years ago, he served as a flight test engineer and project engineer at large manufacturers.

 

Jim Speck (continued)

Mr. Speck earned a BS in business from Drexel University and MS in marketing from RPI/Hartford. He’s a licensed professional engineer in Connecticut. He launched his fastener career in 1974 with Holo-Krome.
